I read Sally Rooney’s “Normal People” and “Intermezzo”.
This year I had planned to read more fictions.
I read total three fictions till date out of total ten books I read till the date in 2026.
Out of them two are from Sally Rooney.
I was seeing her name in book-lists and was aware of her writer.
But never felt like reading them.
Then one day my daughter gave me her “Normal People“
Somehow I couldn’t read it at that time.
Then I ordered again and I read it.
And then I read “Intermezzo“. Daughter said, she cried while reading it.
Yes the novel is pretty emotional and appealing -particularly towards climax.
In my opinion, both books were OK. May be on a scale of 1 to 5, I will give them 3.5 or so.
I have one reservation though. There is too much sex in both books.
Almost every 50 pg, there is bed scene in one or another form.
First, I thought it’s may be my perception then found that even Guardian said the same in its review.
No doubt, the author has great writing style. And it does tell what the younger generation is reading.
Likely to read more of Sally Rooney’s work.
